Toney turned from the spot without looking at the ball, keeping his eyes firmly on the goal and Swiss stopper Yann Sommer in front of him. He insists there is no sense of pressure because that routine is what he knows.

Toney scored England’s fourth penalty of the shootout, putting the Three Lions on the brink of another semi-final. He did not start the game but was brought on in the second half of extra-time when Harry Kane was forced off with double cramps.
